National law school soon

CHENNAI, DEC. 30. A national law school of international standards will soon be set up in the State, the Finance and Law Minister, Mr.C.Ponnaiyan, said today.

The Government had already taken a policy decision and allotment of land ``not less than 10 acres was being worked out,'' he said at the valedictory of the 18th All-India Moot Court competition, organised by the Bar Council of India Trust, New Delhi, and the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University here. Funding was also being looked into.

One issue the profession should address were the changes to be incorporated once the World Trade Organisation regime was implemented fully, in about ``five to ten years from now.''

The problems created by law students were a result most of them not finding gainful employment after education, Mr. Ponnaiyan contended and said the BCI should address this issue.
