MP allocates funds for GRH

Additional buildings to be constructed

MADURAI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP, P. Mohan, has allocated Rs.31 lakhs from his Constituency Development Fund for the construction of additional buildings at the Government Rajaji Hospital here.

According to the MP, the amount has been earmarked to carry out extension work at the GRH, which has been receiving a record number of patients with various ailments. The number of patients visiting the hospital has been on the rise.

Giving out the break-up of allotment, he said Rs.10 lakhs was earmarked for constructing surgical gastroenterology ward, an equal sum for building a post-operative coronary bypass surgery ward, Rs. 7 lakhs for chest diseases ward and the remaining funds would be used for building toilets, dining hall, retiring room and a reading hall for students. He has urged the district authorities to initiate steps and expedite the work.
