Missing boy found murdered

CHENNAI, FEB. 26. The body of a 10-year-old boy, murdered by an employee of his father, was recovered from the water sump in his home at Muthialpet last evening.

The police said Wasim Akram was strangled to death allegedly by Ikramuddin, working in a shop run by Mohammed Nadeem, the victim's father, on Monday. On Tuesday, Nadeem complained to the police that his son was missing. Even as a search was on, his son's body was found floating in the sump.

Motorcyclist killed

A 26-year-old man was killed on the spot and the pillion rider injured when their motorcycle was knocked down by a speeding government bus on Inner Ring Road today.

The traffic police said the bus bound for Ulundurpettai had just left the Koyambedu bus stand. It hit the motorcycle from behind, killing E. Parthiban. Sathish Kumar, who was on the pillion, was hospitalised. The bus driver, Subramaniam, was arrested.

Jewels seized

The Flower Bazaar police on Wednesday arrested three persons on charges of stealing jewellery from women bus travellers.The police said Akbar Ali and Yaseen and Mohan travelled on Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses, slit open bags and stole the jewellery. Eighteen sovereigns of jewellery were recovered from them.
