Minorities panel confers with community leaders

KARUR, AUG. 21 . Members of the State Minorities Commission visited various institutions in Karur district and held discussions with leaders of minority communities and groups on welfare and development works on Friday.

The panel, led by its chairperson, Annamma Philip, including the vice-chairman, T. Kamal Sherif, and members Goutam Vaid, and Manjit Singh Sethi, reviewed the ongoing welfare schemes for minorities and heard from the community leaders their grievances and demands.

The Collector, G. Ramamoorthy, briefed the team on the schemes under implementation and observed that Karur district, which had a significant population of minorities, was showing the path in maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood.

The Superintendent of Police, S. Davidson Devasirvatham, the District Revenue Office, M. Mathivanan, and other officials participated in the discussions.
