MCI team in Tuticorin

TUTICORIN: : A three-member team from the Medical Council of India (MCI) inspected Tuticorin Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) here on Thursday to check whether the authorities had built necessary infrastructure to provide quality education to students as per the council guidelines, prior to giving recognition to the MBBS course offered by the institution.

The team led by Vandana A. Khanolkar, whole-time inspector of the MCI, and members, P. Ambika, Professor of Physiology, Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, and Durgavana, Professor of Surgery, Bangalore Medical College, went around the hospital and medical college and checked the in-patient registers, staff strength, clinical works and infrastructure.

The team also checked the diagnostic facilities offered at the institution vis-�-vis the stipulations mentioned by the MCI for medical institutions.
