Man held 10 years after filing case

VILLUPURAM: Tindivanam police on Wednesday arrested Iqbal (30), a resident of Keezhchetty Street in Villupuram, 10 years after his reported involved in an incident in which the then Tamil Nadu Governor, Channa Reddy's car was blocked and attacked in 1995.

The Governor was proceeding from Chennai to Pondicherry, when a group of persons blocked his car at Tindivanam and threw stones and eggs at the vehicle. Tindivanam police booked a case against 85 persons, including Iqbal.

The police arrested him at Villiyanur and produced him before the Tindivanam Judicial Magistrate, Vinobah, who remanded him to 15 days in judicial custody.
