Mahasamprokshanam performed

THANJAVUR: Mahasamprokshanam of Sri Alarmelmanga Samedha Srinivasa Perumal Temple at Kalyanapuram near Thiruvaiyaru was held today.

Hundreds of people witnessed the event held between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. The temple has Srinivasa Perumal as presiding deity. The Lord was seen in standing posture; Sri Devi and Boo Devi were on either side of the Lord. The temple has sannidhis for Alarmel Manga Thayar, Chakra Raja, Alwar, Anjaneya and Garuda. Located between Kodamuruti and Cauvery, the temple is to the east of Harasaba Vimosana Perumal Temple at Kandiyur.

It is said that saint composer Sri Thyagaraja used to visit this temple which is near Thiruvaiyaru when the saint lived there. Thirumangaiyalwar sang in praise of Srinivasa Perumal. Procession of Srinivasa Perumal idol would take place in the evening.
