VELLORE: Following complaints from the public, Vellore Taluk Supply Officer (TSO) Arun issued ‘stop supply’ orders against 100 family cards attached to the Amudham fair price shop in Saidapet on Tuesday.

Jagannathan, District Supply Officer (DSO), Vellore told The Hindu that on a complaint from the public that a single woman was purchasing kerosene against the family cards of nearly 100 persons, and that the bills for these purchases were prepared in advance, the TSO visited the shop, verified the bills and issued ‘stop supply’ orders against 100 cards against which bills were prepared, for a month.

The DSO said that he has asked the TSO to verify the cards, and issue orders within three days, restoring the supply against cards, which were found to be genuine, in view of the forthcoming Pongal festival.

However, the bogus cards, if any, would be seized, he said.
