MADURAI: Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa should decide on the transfer of power from the Janata Dal (Secular) to its ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has said. He refused to say anything further on the matter when asked by presspersons on Saturday.

Mr. Gowda was here to participate in a public meeting organised by his party to celebrate the birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj.

On the Indo-U.S. nuclear agreement, Mr. Gowda said all the parties (including the Left), other than the United Progressive Alliance, were opposing it. “But the Prime Minister says that it cannot be reviewed. That is where the issue stands… We are totally against any decision that is going to surrender the country’s sovereignty.”

He said he was also opposed to the UPA’s foreign policy. “Are we friendly with any of our neighbours,” he asked.
