‘Construct additional buildings for ART centre at GH’

NAMAKKAL: The district administration will recommend to the Government to construct additional buildings for the Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) centre functioning at the Namakkal government hospital, Collector U. Sagayam said.

After inspecting the construction of buildings for outpatient and maternity wards in the hospital on Monday, the Collector said the hospital was getting more number of persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) for treatment. The construction of additional buildings would enable the hospital administration to ensure better service to the patients. More space could be made available for the PLHAs.



The State Government had taken up the work at Rs. 2.25 crore. Mr. Sagayam asked the officials to speed up the construction and complete it quickly. Officials should ensure quality in the work, he stressed.

The Collector asked the doctors and paramedical personnel in the hospital to put in wholehearted efforts to extend quality healthcare to the people.

All the patients should be able to get medicines. The administration would also take initiatives to fill up the vacancies in the hospital.

While inspecting the mental health unit of the hospital, the Collector said doctors in the unit would be available at Namakkal hospital three days a week - Monday, Thursday and Saturday. They would visit the Rasipuram government hospital on Tuesday, Tiruchengode government hospital on Wednesday and Paramathi Velur hospital on Friday. He asked the people in the district to utilise the healthcare services offered through the section. Joint Director of Health P. Ilango and Superintendent of the hospital R.P. Ilango were present.
