THANJAVUR: : The Tiruvarur Collector, P. Ekambaram, distributed loans of Rs. 3.95 lakhs to 11 persons under the Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana at Tiruvarur recently.

The loans were given by City Union Bank's Tiruvarur branch.

He also distributed Rs.28,000 to four persons each for converting kacha houses into pucca houses.

The Collector distributed Rs.72,000 under the Tamil Nadu Adhidravida Housing Development Corporation (TAHDCO) scheme and Rs. 4.65 lakhs to nine self-help groups as direct loan. He disbursed one tractor loan to the tune of Rs. three lakhs to a farmer. The Collector appreciated the City Union Bank for giving loans to the tune of Rs. 21 crores as agriculture loan during the samba season in Tiruvarur district last year.

S. Ayyaru, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, appealed to bankers to give more loans for converting kacha houses into pucca houses.

A. R. Balasubramanian, Assistant General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), and Mohanarangan, General Manager, District Industries Centre, participated in the meeting.

S. Sridharan, Assistant General Manager, City Union Bank, welcomed the gathering.

V. Ravichandran, Manager of the Tiruvarur branch of City Union Bank, proposed a vote of thanks.
