“Reduce fuel prices”

Special Correspondent

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi District Consumers Movement has appealed to the Union government to reduce the price of petrol and diesel in the wake of the fall in the price of crude oil in the international market.

In a resolution adopted at its meeting here recently, the organisation said the high price of petroleum products was one of the major reasons for the general price rise.

To launch agitation

The organisation would launch an agitation if the prices of petrol and diesel were not reduced immediately.

In another resolution, the organisation urged the Railways to restrict online booking of tickets.

Only 50 per cent of the tickets for a train should be allowed to be booked online, it said.

It also sought the regularisation of the Tiruchi-Madurai Express Train with chair car coaches.
