“Issue won’t affect ties with AIADMK”

TIRUCHI: MDMK general secretary Vaiko said here on Monday that his party’s “consistent stand” on the Tamil Eelam would not affect ties with the AIADMK.

“There are common spheres where the MDMK and the AIADMK agree, and on the Eelam issue we agree to disagree,” he told reporters.

He said barring the MDMK, no other party in Tamil Nadu had opposed India’s defence cooperation with Sri Lanka.

He asked why the DMK, despite being a coalition partner at the Centre, had not opposed the supply of radars to Sri Lanka.

He accused the DMK Government of not taking decisive measures to counter moves by neighbouring States to deny Tamil Nadu its rightful share of water from the Periyar, Palar and Cauvery. — Staff Reporter
