“Ensure complete garbage removal”

TIRUCHI: Corporation Commissioner T. T. Balsamy has instructed officials to ensure cent per cent removal of garbage in the city, especially in Srirangam, in view of the Chithirai car festival at the Ranganathaswamy Temple scheduled for April 24.

Chairing a meeting to review the sanitary works in the city, Mr. Balsamy said sanitary workers should ensure prompt collection and removal of solid wastes in view of the elections and also the Chithirai car festival. They should also ensure that there was no blockage in the drains. The average garbage collection of 410 tonnes a day should be maintained. Assistant Commissioners of the respective zones were instructed to monitor the solid waste collection and transport.

He instructed the officials to carry out immediate repair works, if necessary, on the car streets around the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple.

The City Health Officer (in-charge) S. Malathy, Assistant Commissioners and other officials attended the meeting.

Earlier, Mr. Balsamy inspected the arrangements being made at Srirangam for the festival.

He inspected the cleaning campaign in the town and the road laying works at Dasavathara Sannidhi Street and Melur Road.

Executive Engineer S. Arunachalam and other officials accompanied him.
