“Do not alter retirement age”

Nagercoil: The Unemployed Welfare Association, based at Vetturnimadam near Nagercoil here has urged the Government not to increase the retirement age of government employees. It should not be increased to 58 and on the contrary it should be reduced to 55.

The advisor of the association, Prof. Albens Nathaniel, Reader in Tamil, Pioneer Kumaraswamy College said that if the retirement age was increased, it would be a great blow to the educated youngsters since lakhs remained unemployed.

When this was the ground reality, the government should not increase the retirement age which would halt the young force from entering into service.
