Attracted by people-friendly policies of government: Stalin

TIRUNELVELI: The people-friendly policies and able administration of the Tamil Nadu Government, led by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, were attracting cadres from various political parties and representatives of local bodies towards the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Deputy General Secretary of the DMK M.K. Stalin said.

He was welcoming more than 3,000 persons of various political parties, including All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam and All India Samaththuva Makkal Katchi and also a good number of village panchayat presidents, ward members, panchayat union councillors and others in a function held at Valliyoor on Tuesday. Mr. Stalin said the DMK, which came to power in 2006, was fulfilling all poll promises after Mr. Karunanidhi assumed office as the Chief Minister. Moreover, the Government was formulating revolutionary policies and executing development schemes for the benefit of the deprived sections of the society.

“It is only because of these tireless efforts of the Chief Minister, who work for the Tamils’ welfare for 20 hours a day, office-bearers and cadres of various political parties are now joining the DMK even as the electoral allies of the AIADMK are leaving that party as the outfit’s high command is not considerate about the party as well as the functionaries, who have unflinching confidence on Mr. Karunanidhi,” Mr. Stalin said.

Ministers T.P.M. Maideen Khan and Poongothai Aladi Aruna, MLAs M. Appavu, V. Karuppasamy Pandian, N. Maalairaja, former Union Minister V. Radhika Selvi, District Panchayat chairman M. Graham Bell and Deputy Mayor of Tirunelveli Corporation V. Muthuramalingam participated.
