Kolathur Mani can secure release of Nagappa: Ramadoss

TIRUCHI NOV. 24. The jailed Periyar Dravida Kazhagam activist, Kolathur Mani, if sent as an emissary to the forest brigand Veerappan, would be able to secure the release of the former Karnataka Minister, H. Nagappa, the PMK leader, S. Ramadoss said addressing mediapersons here today.

On reports of money exchanging hands for the release of the Kannada actor, Rajkumar, he said the former Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi's statement that no payment was made should be believed.

The PMK would not support the AIADMK in the Sattankulam byelection. The party would finalise its strategy at its state executive at Thailapuram on December 9, he said.

Dr. Ramadoss declined to go into the Chengalvarayan Trust issue and the police search for two MLAs— G.K. Mani and Kaduvetty Guru— saying the matter was sub-judice.

On privatisation of bus routes, he said the loss-making transport corporations could be handed over to the employees to make it viable.

The PMK founder observed that the linking of northern and southern rivers should be taken up simultaneously as two projects.

The immediate task was to link the southern rivers, he said. Dr. Ramdoss called upon parties to join hands to resist attempts to withdraw free power supply for agricultural pumpsets.
