Kerala police had to open fire in the air in Virugambakkam on Saturday when the irate relatives of an accused whom they tried to arrest surrounded and prevented them from arresting him.
Maharajan, 41, a moneylender of Virugambakkam, has been wanted by Palluruthy police of Ernakulam in a case registered against him under the Kerala Money Lenders Act and Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act.
