BANGALORE: The Karnataka Government has issued a Statewide general alert in the wake of the Ayodhya incident in which five terrorists were killed by the security personnel, the Minister for Transport and Water Resources, M. Mallikarjuna Kharge, told the Legislative Council on Tuesday.

Clarifying that he was only giving an account of measures initiated by the Government and not making any statement on the issue as demanded by the Opposition, Mr. Kharge said the police have been instructed to ensure adequate security at all sensitive places and vital installations, such as Indian Space Research Organisation, HAL, NAL and Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, and elsewhere and all important religious places in the State. Although the incident took place in Uttar Pradesh, the State Government has taken a serious note of its national implications. The Government is awaiting details, he added.
