Tuticorin: J.A.D. Jebachandran took over as the first bishop of Tuticorin-Nazareth diocese at a colourful function held here recently.

Born in Nazareth to John Joseph and Ponnammal Joseph couple, Rev. Dr. Jebachandran did his early schooling in Jerusalem and completed the higher secondary studies in St. Mark's School at Mookuperi near here.

After completing his graduation at Pope's College, Sawyerpuram, he studied Theological Science from Tamil Nadu Theological College at Arasaradi in Madurai from 1980 to 1984.

He started the ministry works as a catechist at Nagalapuram before joining Tirunelveli Diocese Evangelism Band.

In mid-90s, he was transferred to Cheranmahadevi, where he ministered for two years.

Dr. Jebachandran got promoted as a council chairman in North Church Council in 2005 and later got selected as a clerical secretary in Tuticorin-Nazareth diocese in the same year.

Doctorate in Theological Divinity

Last year, he got his doctorate in Theological Divinity and later took out a holy voyage to Israel.

On the selection as a Bishop, he said " I thank almighty ( god) for giving me an opportunity to serve as a bishop in Tuticorin-Nazareth diocese.

I will try to make the diocese a role model for all dioceses."
