Staff of a hotel at Meenambakkam take out a rally to highlight safety precautions

CHENNAI: Staff of a hotel at Meenambakkam in the city on Saturday took out a rally as part of a "helmet awareness campaign".

Flagging off the rally organised by Radisson GRT as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, on GST Road, the Joint Commissioner of Traffic Vijaya Kumar said, "Every motorcyclist should make a pledge to himself to be a responsible citizen and family member and adopt wearing helmet as a daily practice."

The rally started at the hotel and ended at Kathipara junction.

Within the hotel, the sustained safety precaution steps obliges every two-wheeler owner to wear a helmet or risk being denied a parking slot . Guests of the hotel have been actively supporting the `wear helmet campaign' by adding their names to a signature campaign.

The campaigners noted how statistics proved repeatedly that wearing of the helmet had saved many a life in the event of an accident, averted fatal injuries or minimised serious impact of collision.
