Harsh realities must be addressed, says Krishna

CHENNAI OCT. 10. In resolving the Cauvery issue, harsh realities will have to be taken into account, the Karnataka Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, said today.

"One has to address the harsh realities of the ground situation", he said answering reporters' queries at the Chennai airport.

Mr. Krishna said he did not know when the Prime Minister would convene a meeting of the Cauvery River Authority.

When reporters drew his attention to successive crop failure in Tamil Nadu, he shot back: "There has been a crop failure for the past three years in Karnataka (also)". He added, "I was on an extended visit to the drought-affected areas of the State. So I have to catch up with the latest situation. And whatever we had to convey we have conveyed to the Government of India".
