Hariswar to be new Dy. Speaker

HYDERABAD, DEC. 30. Mr. K. Hariswar Reddy, TDP MLA from Pargi in Rangareddy district, will be elected Deputy Speaker of the Assembly on Monday.

His was the only nomination filed by the 5-p.m. deadline on Sunday. Mr. Reddy submitted nine different sets of nomination papers signed by the Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Home Minister, Mr. T. Devender Goud, the BJP floor leader, Mr. N. Indrasena Reddy, and others to the Secretary, Legislature, Mr. Tuljanand Singh.

The 54-year-old legislator will be formally declared elected unopposed by the Speaker, Mrs. K. Pratibha Bharathi, at 11 am in the House tomorrow. Earlier in the morning, Opposition parties were taken a bit by surprise when the Speaker announced the election schedule just before adjourning the House for the day.
