Grid support charges mandatory for CGPPs

HYDERABAD, FEB. 15. The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has issued an order making it mandatory for the captive generation power plants (CGPP) which were permitted to be run parallel with the State grid, to pay `grid support charges'.

The order followed the two public hearings conducted by the Commission on wheeling charges to which the grid support charges is a related matter.

The order stipulates the CGPPs to pay the grid support charges monthly from the billing month of March, 2002, at the rate of 50 per cent of the prevailing demand charge for HT consumers.

In case of CGPPs exporting power to the AP Transco, the firm capacity dedicated for such export, will also be additionally subtracted from the CGPPs capacity, a press note issued by the Commission here on Friday said.
