Governor conveys his Christmas greetings

CHENNAI. Governor Surjit Singh Barnala on Thursday has conveyed his Christmas greetings to the people, stressing the need for rededicating to the cause of promoting the interests of the poor and downtrodden.

Speaking at a Christmas get-together at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, he said the birth of Jesus Christ marked a great day in the annals of history. The Angel of Peace spread the message of love for humanity, particularly, caring for the downtrodden and the poor. The Governor honoured the artists who sang carols, and those who gave a Odissi performance to mark the occasion. Stephan and Choir and the Jabez Janagaraj and Choir sang the carols. Ramli Ibrahim and Sutra Dancers presented the Odissi.

Among others, Lt.Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Ram Kapse, former Governor of Orissa, M.M.Rajendran, Consul Generals of the United States, Japan, and the British Deputy High Commissioner, vice-chancellors of the University of Madras and Anna University, Government officials and the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Ali, were present at the get-together. C.K.Gariyali, Secretary to Governor, welcomed the dignitaries.
