Government relaxes norms on film shooting

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: The Minister for Information, B. Shivaram, said on Monday that the Government has permitted Kannada film producers to shoot 50 per cent of their film requirements (both outdoor and indoor) outside the State with prior permission to support the film industry, which is facing a threat from films in other languages.

He told presspersons here that hitherto producers were allowed to shoot only 50 per cent of their films in outdoor locations outside the State with prior permission.

Now they can shoot up to 50 per cent of their indoor requirements as well, and a Government Order in this regard has been issued. The decision was taken because of pressure from the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) and other frontal organisations of the Kannada film industry, he said.
