Goods trains collide

Allahabad Oct. 5. An assistant driver was killed when a goods train collided with another which had derailed, near Ahraura on the Allahabad-Mughal Sarai route last night.

According to railway sources, the driver, Nazrul Hasan, died on the spot. Following the derailment, the movement of trains on this route was disrupted.

Work to restore the damaged track is still continuing. Many trains have been diverted.

A report from New Delhi said the railways rescheduled a number of trains.

The derailment of the two trains around 8.30 last night disrupted traffic on both routes on the section, leading to rescheduling of several trains leaving the national capital today, a Northern Railway release said.

The rescheduled trains include the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express (rescheduled to leave at 2350 hours instead of 1715 hours), New Delhi-Howrah Poorva Express (to depart at 2030 hours), Delhi-Hatia Jharkhan Swarna Jayanti Express (to leave at 0050 hours tomorrow instead of 1930 hours), New Delhi-Patna/Bhagalpur Magadh Express (to leave at 2150 hours instead of 2000 hours) and New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express (to leave at 0050 hours instead of 1645 hours).

The other trains rescheduled are the New Delhi-Patna Sampoorn Kranti Express (to leave at 2020 hours instead of 1810 hours) and the Delhi-Raxaul Satyagraha Express (to leave at 1930 hours instead of 1720 hours). — UNI
