Four nominations rejected in Pudukottai constituency

PUDUKOTTAI, APRIL 24 . The nominations of four candidates, three of them dummy candidates, for Pudukottai Parliamentary constituency were rejected after scrutiny by the Collector and Returning Officer, Hiteshkumar Makwana. Among them were P. Latha, AIADMK dummy, S. Mahendran, BSP dummy, and C. Muthusamy, DMK dummy, and J. Ravichandran, an Independent. Thirteen nominations were accepted.

Karur

In Karur, the nominations of K.C.P. Sivaraman, DMK dummy, and R. Natarajan, AIADMK dummy, were rejected by the Collector and Returning Officer, P. Annamalai. A total of 18 nominations were accepted.

Perambalur

Two nominations received for the Perambalur constituency were rejected after scrutiny by the Collector and Returning Officer, S. Natarajan. Among them were S. Rathinavel, Janata Dal (U) dummy, and M. Andimuthu, Independent. Eight other nominations were accepted.

Tiruchi

Four nominations, including those of three dummy candidates, received for the Tiruchi constituency, were rejected after scrutiny by the Collector and Returning Officer, K. Manivasan, here today.

The nominations of P. Ganesamurthy, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) dummy, R. Natarajan, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) dummy, Mariam Pitchai, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) dummy and Sadakatullah Moulana of the Tamil Maanilla Muslim League were rejected, on the acceptance of the nominations of the official candidates. One of the two nominations filed by Mr. Moulana was also rejected. Sixteen nominations were accepted.

Observer arrives

The third election observer for Tiruchi, Thomas C.George, Principal Secretary, Government of Kerala, arrived here today.

He would be one of the two general observers, and would be camping at the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board guesthouse here. Two other observers, Ajay Pal Singh (general) and Amarvir Singh (expenditure), have already arrived in the city. The public can contact the observers at the following telephone numbers: Thomas C. Poll control room set up

The Collector, K. Manivasan, said an election control room had been set up at the Collectorate. It would function round the clock, and the public contact it over telephone (2400191), for any information or complaints.
