Four dyeing units in Chennimalai sealed

Pollution Board repeats warning

ERODE: Revenue officials sealed four textile dyeing units in Chennimalai area on Friday for discharging effluents into the drain.

As per the Madras High Court direction all the textile dyeing industries were ordered to erect Reverse Osmosis plants.

Units visited

In Chennimalai there are about 65 textile dyeing industries. Of this some industries have started putting up Reverse Osmosis plants and four owners in Chinnapidariyur and Sanankadu had not taken any action for erecting the RO plant.

The Revenue Divisional Officer, P. Kuppusamy and officials from the Pollution Control Board visited the units on Friday and sealed them.

The Pollution Control Board has said that as per the court direction all the tanneries, textile dyeing, processing and printing industries should put up the RO plant on or before March 31.

Otherwise the unit will be sealed and the Collector will cancel the licence.
