Flower show venue changed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 30. The 33rd annual flower show begins here on January 25.

Unlike in the previous years, the Flower Show 2002 will be held at the Observatory Hill and Institution of Engineers' hall premises instead of the spacious Kanakakkunnu grounds. The venue was changed due to the on-going landscaping and beautification work on the Kanakakkunnu premises, an official release said.

The show, being hosted by the city Corporation, Department of Tourism, Kerala Agri-Horticultural Society, Kerala Rose Society and the District Tourism Promotion Council, will feature a large collection of orchids and roses, including a large variety of hybrids.

Individuals, Government institutions and private nurseries are taking part in the show. A splendid show of cut flowers, with many imported flowers from the Netherlands, is also being arranged on the occasion.

Other attractions at the flower show include the exhibition of ornamental fishes and a collection of herbs and medicinal plants. The Ayurveda Research Institute will have an exclusive pavilion featuring over 400 varieties of medicinal plants.

The show concludes on February 3.
