Female voters outnumber men

MADURAI, FEB.26 . Female voters outnumber male voters in seven of the 10 Assembly segments in the district, according to official sources. The sources said here yesterday said the district had 19, 67,491 voters including 9, 97,202 female electors.

All three Assembly segments — Madurai (East), Madurai (Central) and Tirupparankunram — which have more male voters than the female ones, fall under the Madurai Lok Sabha constituency. Madurai (East) has a total of 1, 35, 733 electors, including 67, 114 women. In Madurai (Central), there are 1, 37, 922 voters including 68, 485 women while in Tirupparamkunram, there are 1, 66, 000 women among the 3, 32, 290 total voters.

As far as other Assembly segments under the Madurai Lok Sabha constituency are concerned, Samayanallur (Reserved) has the highest number of 3, 47, 688 voters, including 1, 74, 912 women, Melur has 1, 97, 483 voters including 1, 01, 213 women, and Madurai (West) has 90, 568 women among a total of 1, 80, 403 electors.

The Sedapatti segment has a total of 1, 45, 741 electors, including 75, 608 women, Tirumangalam has a total of 1, 74, 891 voters, including 90, 679 female electors. Usilampatti has 1, 52, 560 voters, including 78, 350 women and Sholavandan 1, 62, 780 voters including 84, 273 women voters, the sources said.
