CHENNAI: She may be `Manaivi' on prime time television at night. But at 10.15 a.m. she's actress Kousalya, completely smitten by jewellery.

Invited to inaugurate the Rajasthani Mela on Saturday, at C.P. Art Centre, the actress appeared in a bright blue saree ready to spend a good 30 minutes at the fair. She cut the ribbon and lit the kuthuvillakku and keenly looked at the array of items on display — paintings, bed sheets, puppets, terracotta ware, furniture...

But what really caught her fancy was the section displaying glittering ornaments. That was where she lingered on, asking for the price of several earrings and bead necklaces. She even posed for a photo holding up a necklace of her choice. The glittering meenakari and kundan work caught the eye of several visitors too. The exhibition is on at 1, Eldams Road, Alwarpet till July 17 with a discount of 10 per cent on handicrafts and 20 per cent on handlooms.
