E.V. Saroja dead

CHENNAI: Veteran actor E.V. Saroja died in Chennai on Friday of cardiac arrest. She was admitted to a private hospital earlier in the day and the end came around 5-15 p.m, family members said. Wife of producer-director T.R. Ramanna, Saroja was 70.

Starting her film career acting as M.G. Ramachandran's sister in the film `En Thangai' in 1951, she made her mark in films such as `Gulebagavali', `Veera Thirumugan' and `Madurai Veeran'. She acted in 40 films and danced for numbers in nearly 100 Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi movies and one Sinhala movie.

Her brother E.V. Rajan is also a film producer. She leaves a daughter. The AIADMK general secretary, Jayalalithaa condoled the death of the actor.
