Error-free publication of Bharthiar works planned

Pondicherry Dec. 4. S.Vijayabharathi, granddaughter of nationalist poet Subramania Bharathiar, has launched a Rs.25-lakh project to bring out an error-free publication of the entire works of the legendary poet.

Ms.Vijayabharathi told newsmen on Wednesday that she along with her husband P. K. Sundararajan had a meeting with the Chief Minister, N Rangasamy and Education Minister, K. Lakshmianrayanan here and briefed them on the project.

Ms.Vijayabharathi said that she was keen on bringing out a quality publication as she felt that some of the publications brought out by various organisations now were full of `errors'. She said that there would be totally 12 volumes.

She said she had sought the support and cooperation of Pondicherry Administration in her endeavour.

She earlier visited the Bharathiar Museum cum Research Centre housed in the premises, where the poet had lived during his eleven-year stay. The premises was acquired by the Pondicherry government some 20 years ago to establish the museum and research centre.

The Education Minister earlier handed to her a framed portrait of the poet drawn by a teacher in Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam run by the government.
