Environment awareness camp at Nadugani

Udhagamandalam: A ten-day environment awareness camp organised by the Forest Department and the CPR Environmental Education Centre began at Nadugani near Gudalur on Friday.

It was inaugurated by the Assistant Conservator of Forests, Dharmasamy.

Welcoming the gathering, the Field Officer, CPR Environmental Education Centre, M.Kumaravelu, said that among the beneficiaries would be members of self-help groups, tribals and students.

Preserving rain forests

Focus would be on preserving the rain forests of Gudalur, protecting the migratory routes of elephants and safe guarding the water sources.

Among those who also spoke were the Director, Centre for Tribals and Rural Development, R.S.Renganathen, the Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu Green Movement, S.Jayachandran, and Selvaraj of the Biological Protection Trust.
