ERODE: Encroachments on Perundurai Main Road here were removed by the police officials and the personnel of the Highways Department on Friday. On complaints from drivers and the public, the Collector, D. Karthikeyan, had ordered officials to remove encroachments in Pazhayapalayam and Veerappampalayam.

Drainage sought

Residents of Veerappampalayam complained that due to lack of drainage facilities, rainwater and sewage stagnated on the main road, causing hardship to the public. They demanded that the municipal administration construct the drainage on the northern side of the road.

`Consult public'

They also urged the Highways Department to consult with the public before going ahead with their plan to raise the level of road.
