THANJAVUR: Education offered by colleges should have a purpose and it should make the mind productive, said M. Rathinasabapathi, Registrar, Annamalai University, here today.

Delivering the convocation address at the Bharath College of Science and Management, he said that education helped growth of conscience."In the first, education does not begin and end with the learning of the contents of a few books, but it is directed to the mind and its development. It leads to the building up of character and finally to social adjustability. The student who undergoes true education is not only well-read but also well-bred," Mr. Rathinasababathi said. Graduation day marked a milestone from where you continue your quest for knowledge, he said.

Degrees and post-graduate degrees were conferred on 99 students in the convocation. Prof. S. Sivapunniyam, Principal of the college, Prof. N. Ganesan, Secretary and Punitha Ganesan, treasurer, participated.
