Exhibition-on-wheels display materials detailing symptoms of the diseases

TIRUCHI: An exhibition-on-wheels to increase the awareness on HIV and sexually transmitted diseases (STD), organised under the AIDS Prevention and Control programme of the USAID and Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, is touring the city.

The exhibition, on a truck designed in the shape of a condom, displays slides, charts and other publicity material detailing the symptoms of the diseases and the preventive measures. The exhibition would also promote the use of condoms among the youth.

The exhibition is being coordinated by Anbalayam and other city-based voluntary organisations that have been implementing AIDS awareness and intervention projects among the vulnerable groups.

Places of public congregations, including bus stands and markets would be covered over the next 30 days.

On Friday, the exhibition attracted a large number of visitors at the Central Bus Stand. Condoms were distributed free. Counselling would also be provided to the youth. Interested visitors can avail themselves of the referral service for voluntary testing by Anbalayam.

The exhibition, which commenced from Madurai, would cover various parts of Tamil Nadu.
