DPI remembers Kizhavenmani martyrs

Nagapattinam Dec. 25. Th e Dalit Panthers of India leader, R. Tirumavalavan, today accused CPI(M) volunteers of attacking his party volunteers at the Kizhavenmani Martyrs Memorial.

Ten DPI volunteers sustained injuries after CPI(M) men hit them with logs .

Talking to reporters in the village after paying homage at the memorial, (built in memory of 44 persons who died in 1968) Mr.Tirumavalavan said,

"I too was pushed around by CPI(M) volunteers.

Though around 1,000 cadres arrived at Kizhavenmani, only 50 of them accompanied me to the memorial as per a decision taken at a meeting between the CPI (M) State secretary, N.Varadarajan, and me in Chennai last week," he added.
