`Do not victimise workers'

SALEM: The Ambedkar Makkal Iyakka Thuppuravu Paniyalargal Sangam (Ambedkar People's Movement Sanitary Workers Association) has urged the Salem Corporation not to resort to the practice of victimising sanitary workers.

General Secretary of the association A. Annadurai said that the Corporation authorities had placed two sanitary workers, K. Mathaian and K. Murugesan, under suspension. Later, they revoked the order and transferred them from Sooramangalam division to another division without prior information.

He claimed these workers were transferred on the alleged insistence of the AIADMK's ward 20 councillor P. Ravindran. Since they were enrolled in the Ambedkar People's Movement association, they were being victimised, he said.
