Demo for action against anti-socials

TIRUNELVELI, FEB. 26 . As many as 250 activists of Hindu organisations in Kanyakumari district, including 100 women, were arrested when they staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate at Nagercoil today, demanding action against anti-socials, who damaged the properties of the Narayanaswamy Temple at Ilanthaiyadivilai beach.

According to the protestors, toilets, dressing room and trees belonging to the temple had been badly damaged and no action taken against the culprits despite repeated complaints made to the police. They also demanded the transfer of the Sub-Inspector of Police of the Kanyakumari station, who "failed to act on the complaints".

All protestors were released in the evening.
