Cross-examination continues

KANCHEEPURAM OCT. 28. Cross-examination of the third prosecution witness, M. Murugesan, sub-inspector of the Koodakovil station, in the case against the MDMK general secretary, Vaiko, and eight others, arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, continued for fifth day today at the special court at Poonamalle, near Chennai.

Defence counsel, K. S. Dinakaran, asked the witness about his deposition in the chief examination and the statement made before the investigation officer on the subject addressed by Mr. Vaiko at the Tirumangalam public meeting on June 29 last. The witness admitted that Mr. Vaiko had spoken at the meeting what he had stated in the Parliament regarding the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

The judge, L. Rajendran, then posted the case for tomorrow.

Except P. S. Maniam, all the accused - Mr. Vaiko, Ganesamurthy, Veera Ilavarasan, Bhoominathan, Pulavar Sevanthiappan, Madurai Ganesan, Alagusundaram and Nagarajan were brought from the Vellore prison amid tight security.
