Court summons Periyar varsity Vice-Chancellor

CHENNAI OCT. 10. The Madras High Court has directed the Periyar University Vice-Chancellor, Sethupathy Ramalingam, and his family members facing a dowry harassment case, to be present in the court on Monday.

Sangeetha, his daughter-in-law, said in her complaint that her husband, Rajavel Sethupathy, along with his parents, sister and brother-in-law, had demanded jewellery, car and cash as dowry. She also alleged that Mr. Ramalingam had "attempted to misbehave with her".

While the Mr. Ramalingam and others filed an anticipatory bail petition, Ms. Sangeetha filed an intervention petition opposing any relief to them.

Yesterday, Justice M. Karpagavinayagam, ordered both the parties to be present on Monday, when the case is scheduled to come up for further hearing.
