Counselling for admission to MBBS seats completed

CHENNAI, AUG. 14. Counselling for admission to the MBBS seats in private colleges was completed today, though it began an hour behind schedule. Confusion over the fee structure for government quota seats in the self-financing colleges was the cause of the delay. Only after the Government received a clarification from the A.Raman committee fixing the fee for the two unaided colleges, did counselling begin.

As per the recommendations of the committee, the fee for the PSG College of Medicine, Coimbatore, has been fixed at Rs.1.30 lakhs a year and for the IRT College, Perundurai, at Rs.83,000.

Counselling for BDS seats in government colleges was also completed, according to officials. The fee structure for the course in private colleges would be announced on August 16, just before counselling, said sources in the Directorate of Medical Education.
