Staff Reporter

ERODE: The Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officer should order the Collectors to conduct fresh enumeration of voters and prepare a detailed and correct voters list, said the Congress Councillor of Erode Municipal Council, R. Sundarasamy, on Monday.

In a memorandum to the Election Commission and also to the Chief Electoral Officer, he demanded that a door-to-door enumeration should be done and each enumerator should be given the task of enrolling voters at a hundred houses. They may be given one-month time.

He also suggested that when the enumeration was conducted, the councillor of the respective area and members of opposition parties could go with the enumerator. Otherwise, after the enumeration, the list may be given to the representatives of political parties in the area to get correct information about the persons.

Mr. Sundarasamy said at present thousands had submitted the Form 6 including those who had attained 18 years of age. Most of the new voters were college students and many of them had left the place for studies. So, the officials could enquire the head of the family about the person and if necessary he might get the signature of the family head.
