Congress hands over list of seats

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president M.Krishnasswamy on Saturday handed over a list of 48 constituencies, which the Congress Party wanted to contest in the forthcoming assembly election in the State, to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M.Karunanidhi.

The party had been allotted 48 seats in the Democratic Progressive Alliance and the party's wish list was recently finalised by the high command. A sealed cover containing the list was handed over to Mr. Karunanidhi by Mr.Krishnasswamy on behalf of the high command.

Later talking to newsmen, Mr.Krishnasswamy hoped that the DMK would finalise the list of constituencies soon.

M.Veerappa Moily, in charge of party affairs in the State, would have discussion with Mr.Karunanidhi on March 21.

The TNCC chief was accompanied by the Congress Legislative party leader S.R.Balasubramoniyan and party MLA M. Jayakumar.
