Conference on textile technology tomorrow

COIMBATORE: Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) is organising a two-day international conference on `Advances in Textile Materials Technology, Management and Applications' (ATMT 2005) starting July 7. It is being organised in association with the Institute of Environmental and Human Health, Texas Tech University, USA and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Textile Management, Coimbatore.

Eminent scientists from Indian and foreign universities will present papers and deliver lectures on textile fibres, polymers, yarn, fabrics and composite materials, according to a release.

In addition to the collaborating Texas Tech University, other foreign delegates are from the University of Tennessee, USA, Institute of Natural Fibres, Poland, CSIRO Textile and Fibre Technology, Australia, Ryerson University, Canada, Technical University, Czech Republic, Osaka Gakuin University, Japan, University of Faisalabad, Pakistan, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, Amsler Tex AG, Switzerland and Trenlin University, Slovak Republic.

The conference will catalogue developments in the fields of high performance fibres and materials, nanofibres and technology, carbon nanotubes, composite materials along with developments in spinning, weaving and knitting for advanced materials production, novel functional and aesthetic finishing techniques, defence clothing, sports and medical textiles. Knowledge related to value added non-woven and industrial textiles, global markets and consumption, production, planning and control in post multi-fibre-agreement era and quality control and global standards will also be shared.

The Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, D.Viswanathan will inaugurate the conference and R. Duraisamy, Managing Director of Salzer Electronics, Coimbatore will be the guest of honour.
