Competitions, lectures mark Science Day

CUDDALORE, MARCH 3. Competitions for school and college students and a series of lectures marked the Science Day celebrations at the Centre for Advanced Study in Marine Biology of Annamalai University at Parangipettai, near here, recently.

The Joint Secretary of the University Grants Commission, Narendra Jain, in his presidential address, called upon the students and scientists to work with honesty, dedication and perseverance for success in their endeavours.

The Director of the centre, T. Balasubramanian, said that on the memorial day (February 21) of the Department of Marine Biology founder director, R.V. Seshiya, competitions were held in various disciplines of science. These included elocution, essay writing, poster presentation, quiz, and exhibition in which 17 schools and five colleges participated.

Prof. Balasubramanian appreciated the enthusiasm and skill of the participants and called upon them to strive to realise the dream of the President, A.P.J.Abdul Kalam (to make India a superpower).
