Collector inspects counting centres

Sees progress in issuing of voters' cards

NAGAPATTINAM: J.Radhakrishnan, Nagapattinam Collector, on Friday and Saturday inspected a number of polling stations and also the two vote counting centres in the district.

He also inspected the progress of issuing Elector's Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) at various centres.

The Collector said that the issue of photo identity cards was picking up.

He appealed to the electorate to go to the respective centres and take photos to get the EPICs.

Mr Radhakrishnan pointed out that 1,091 polling stations (190 each for men and women and 711 for general category) had been set up in the six Assembly constituencies of Sirkazhi, Poompuhar, Mayiladuthurai, Kuthalam, Nagapattinam and Vedaranyam.

He said that the votes of Nagapattinam and Vedaranyam Assembly segments would be counted at the Valivalam Desikar Polytechnic College in Nagapattinam and the votes of Poompuhar, Sirkazhi, Kuthalam and Mayiladuturai constituencies at AVC College in Mayiladuthurai.
