The thatched roof of a police check-post was suspected to have been set afire by unidentified persons at Pandaravadai Thirumaalam on the Poonthottam-Karaikal Road on Saturday morning.
The incident took place when there was no policeman at the check-post, established mainly to check smuggling of liquor from Karaikal. On being alerted, Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
